Light

The goal of this project was to take concepts to control light in ways that are interesting and allow us to create an atmosphere in these cathedrals. Controlling light in different ways such as light cannons with a shelf, windows with a blocker, and slits with a shelf as well as curved surfaces

This is the Mount Angel Library designed by Alvar Aalto, where the light comes in and bounces downwards. This is a good example of bouncing light in such a way that creates an atmosphere outside of the skylight.

Site Plan

This site was not one often chose and the southwestern facing facade made it an interesting challenge to design. In addition, the fact that dorming students have easy access to the cathedral for their practices
